I want to dedicate this to my nana ("Mama Julia," as we called her) whom my siblings and I went to live with when I was 4 years old after my parents split up. My nana was a beautiful educator who loved God with all her heart. We said our prayers twice a day, every day, even if we were running late for school. My nana taught us how to cook and bake, and sent us to sewing and étiquette classes at the church every Sunday morning. As I grew older and followed in her footsteps, I realized what a hard life she lived being such a good and caring woman. When you decide to do the right thing and follow Christ, people take advantage of you, lie to you, and just treat you badly. She was my everything, and sometimes I pray that God would allow me to dream about her for just a minute, so I can remember her smile and know everything will be alright.
