Arabic text recognition is an important field of study. One of its branches is vowel recognition. one word with different vowels will be pronounced differently and will produce different meaning. Therefore, it is important to study Arabic vowels and consider them when recognising arabic characters. in this study, quran tajweed rules are used as a case study. The key aim of this research is to develop arabic vowel recognition (avr) system. The study recognises the third part of the arabic text (vowel)individually. Also develops techniques that recognise single, double, triple and special vowels.in addition, the research also introduces a technique to connect all vowels to the corresponding characters in all cases. This study employs image processing, segmentation, and recognition methods to identify and connect the vowels based on shortest distance and central line techniques. In addition, this study enhances segmenting Arabic text techniques based on baseline, skeleton,and projection methods. Bpnn and fuzzy logic technique are used for vowel, character and tajweed rule recognitions. vowel recognition technique has been applied to provide tajweed rules in quran.
