Black holes, with their surprising properties, have for long captured our imagination. The aim of this book is to give an overview of the physics of black holes as described by the theory of General Relativity (GR). A short introduction to GR is quickly followed by a description of the main properties of different kinds of black holes, including the Schwarzschild, Kerr and Reisner-Nordstrom, as well as the analysis of spacetimes such as de Sitter and Anti de Sitter. The thermodynamics of black holes are also covered, including the famous Hawking Radiation.
