When the summer of 1968 dawned at the Jersey Shore, Xavier Martorelli was sure of who he was and where he was headed. But that special summer led him to question his Italian Catholic heritage, his strength, and racial and sexual bigotry that he had never before been aware of. However, under the guidance of three kind girls, older and unobtainable, he begins the process of learning to be a man. Thus began his lifelong journey of maturity and growth, while always chasing the truth. We have all had a bellwether summer at the precipice of adulthood, when we were petrified but awed by the changes occurring to us. This is the story of us, all of us, told in an emotional but whimsical nature through the eyes of a teenage boy and progressing through middle age.
