The aim of this research is to analyse errors made by second year students of Italian in the School of European Studies at Cardiff University during the first term of the academic year 2011-2012. In this study I firstly considered a general error analysis and then, to avoid a mere list of errors found during my research, I studied the causes, the typologies, frequency and finally some teaching suggestions in detail. In the second part of this work a translation of some studies about error analysis and the teaching of Italian can be found with a comment on some translation choices.
