This book interrogates the construction and representation of bachelor figures within canonical Victorian narratives. Dr. Maria Pirgerou holds an M.A. and a Ph.D. degree in Literature, Culture and Ideology from the Department of English Sudies,School of Philosophy, The National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, Greece. Her research interests are gender studies, Lacanian psychoanalysis and Victorian fiction.
