For thousands of years, the Maori tohunga, sages, passed closely guarded knowledge to new generations of sages, using only an orally coded system. Two hundred years ago, they started recording that knowledge into secret manuscripts. Why did they suddenly abandon their oral traditions? Who were they writing for? Will this indigenous knowledge provide us with a beacon in our time? Infinite Threads presents rare excerpts, interprets them, and reveals their insights through the voices of the old sages. Their words, by turns, are gritty, loving, blunt, funny, rousing. Their writings are eloquent expressions for what moves us-love, rage, compassion, grief, joy, fear, and identity. It's Universal and it's told through stories and concepts. Read about oceanic voyages, creatures in their lairs, love trysts, the living cosmos, deeds of all kinds, and how they teach you to connect with others, the world, and universe. Learn about the colonial history that nearly obliterated an indigenous esoteric knowledge system-how the sages saved it and why it matters to all of us. Follow the author's journey beyond the confines of her social and cultural conditioning, from fear towards freedom, and her ultimate decision to share these insights with you. Author's message: This writing journey has been life-changing. Several times I put it down and asked whether I could, or should even do it. Some of my own people complained and said I shouldn't, it was not for anybody, they said. And then the world tipped upside down. Yes, you know it, right? We're heading down a slippery slope to who knows where. What will it take to stop this wild race to the bottom of humanity? A new mindset. To trust in ourselves. One person at a time. I believe our ancestors, left their writings for us, for me and you, for this very time. So here it is. You decide.
