The Civilian JTF is a heart-rending story, told with relics of an extraordinary passion for portraying a painful, dehumanizing experience of a young girl with a passionate zeal for quality education, a life free of male molestation, and social profiling. Her resistance against early marriage set her at odds with her very existence. Her relationship with Uche, a young and ambitious man, burning with a passionate hatred for injustice, were cut up by the infamous deadly attack of Bokoharam extremist activities. This unexpected grotesque disruption was like a bolt from the blues. It was a horrible disaster, an absurdity that took Zainab back to the horrifying experiences she had always run from.Uche's entanglement with the civilian joint task force, a voluntary group of civilians who took up security surveillance due to the military's inactiveness to engage the terrorist, was the story's turning point. He showed strength of character replete with unwavering pure love and courage. Hisinner toughness was uncharacteristically endearing, a force that defiled the tribal, socio-cultural and religious forces that shaped their lives. His love triumphed not because he endured till the end but for unearthing the dirt and can of worm that has perpetuated corruption, nepotism, and self-aggrandizement that held the military into a state of comatose. Whether their affair survives the test of time is one tricky question the reader will unravel.
