Disinfection is one of the areas of great concern to dentist. Cross contamination between patients and dental personnel is possible during laboratory procedures. One of the novel approach to disinfect gypsum product is to incorporate disinfectants at the time of mixing, thereby disinfecting cast and impressions. Sodium hypochlorite and calcium hypochlorite were the disinfectants incorporated to dental stone to evaluate the physical properties like compressive strength and surface hardness. The study concluded that incorporation of calcium hypochlorite into dental stone specimens increased compressive strength and surface hardness.
