Autorenporträt
ABOUT THE AUTHOR: Kim DenBleyker lives in Bucks County, PA. She is a wife and very proud mother of three children and eight adored grandchildren. Kim has been a pediatric home care nurse for 23 years. Kim saw there was a need for more representation of children with disabilities in children's literature. It has been Kim's mission to create books based on the challenges faced by children she has cared for. She partners with the parents of her clients to create these stories. ABOUT THE ILLUSTRATOR: When I was a kid, I used to doodle on all sorts of things, especially the margins of class notes and homework. I used to paint too, mostly on river rocks to make them look like animals. I slowed down drawing my first year of college, but the next year I made a lot of friends who were really interested in art. They encouraged me to learn more about drawing from other artists and to always keep practicing. In college I was studying biology and botany, and I started drawing my friends as animals and making silly comics about our college adventures. I'm 100% self-taught and now I do art commissions professionally when I'm not working my main job as a Park Ranger. Bugs, plants, and animals are still some of my favorite things to draw. ABOUT THE AUTHOR: Melissa Weidenmiller lives in Montgomery County, PA. She is a proud mother of three wonderful children who she is raising along with her husband Freddie. This story is based on Melissa's youngest child, Justin. Melissa actively pursues the happiness of her children, delighting in their achievements. Theirs is a busy household, filled with day trips and fun activities. Melissa is very involved in her children's athletic endeavors and is usually the loudest and most enthusiastic cheerleader on the sidelines. Melissa hopes this book can help other children just like Justin to see that having a feeding tube is normal - that in spite of that feeding tube, they can do everything just like any other kid.
