A Veda is a ¿compilation of knowledge¿. They are collections of poems, ritual instructions, monographs and spiritual teachings called Upanishads. Upanishads were instruments of learning used in the Indus Valley of India as far back as 3000 BCE to ¿bind truth to the mind¿ and their technique and contents are still taught today. These truths had to be proclaimed through a hypothesis and then proven over the course of a discussion between a master and his students through scientific method. The result of this were 108 recognized Upanishads and there are many texts recognized for their superior use of the method, among them the Srimad Bhagavad Gita, Vivekachoodamani, the Mahavakyas and there are others. The Upanishads were collected and bound in collections called the Vedas which held recipes, ritual instructions, formulae for medicines and treatments of disease, monographs of plants and animals, myths, legends, and teachings on math, language and the sciences. Vedas had one purpose: to help foster, organize, and advance the cause of Learned Society. The role of the Upanishads is to ensure this takes place upon the firm foundation of the Spiritual Sciences. For this they turned to prayer, meditation, and mantra in hopes God would respond to their earnest requests of Him for the Purest of Knowledges and through their study and practices, the Purest of Hearts.
