Autorenporträt
Michael Oliveira was born in 1954 in New Bedford Massachusetts. Of Cape Verdean descent, Michael grew up during the 60's and 70's which was a turbulent and divisive time in the city that his father policed. He attended public schools and participated in sports as a student-athlete and on various city teams over the years. A hall of famer in football and all-star in baseball, Michael was accepted to Springfield College where he participated in football for four years and baseball for three. He graduated with a triple degree in Physical Education, Health and Science. He came back to his hometown and taught physical education, health and science for twenty-three in classes that ranged from K-12. Michael became an Attendance Officer for three years before transitioning into the Bristol County Juvenile Court System as a Court Liaison between the school department and court system, He held that position for 9 years. After 35 years, Michael retired to care for his loving partner of 31 years until her death. He still lives in the city of New Bedford.
