Dr. Michael Marcades completed his Ph.D. in Fine Arts (Choral Conducting) at Texas Tech University in May 1999. His dissertation, Benjamin Britten's Ad majorem Dei gloriam (AMDG): A Musicopoetic Analysis and Performance Guide for the Choral Conductor, was nominated for the 1999 Julius Herford Prize and is housed on request in the Britten-Pears Library, Aldeburgh, England. Throughout his career, Marcades has served on the School of Music faculties at Texas Tech University, Columbus State University Schwob School of Music and Southern Union State Community College. Additionally, he has devoted extensive time to in-depth research and writing about the tragically, mysterious life and death of his mother Melba Christine Youngblood Marcades. Melba, alias Rose Cherami, is known to the worldwide President John F. Kennedy assassination community as the woman who knew in advance and tried to warn authorities about the pending assassination plot. Her character, depicted in Oliver Stone's landmark film JFK, reveals her struggle with heroin addiction, involvement with nationwide prostitution rings and drug trafficking, association with assassination figures such as Jack Ruby, and her extensive work as an official FBI informant. After three decades of research and ten years of writing, ROSE CHERAMI: Gathering Fallen Petals, initially published in 2016 by JFK Lancer Publications and now available as a REVISED SECOND EDITION, reveals his mother's provocative life narrative. The Second Edition is scheduled for publication in January 2020 by PENIEL UNLIMITED, LLC. Information regarding this new edition and Marcades' availability is accessible via michaelmarcades@gmail.com or rosecherami.com. Michael is married to Kelly Casey Marcades, a music professional in her own right. Together, they celebrate their seven grown children, four grandchildren and their three wonderful dogs, Molly, Sadie and Lucy. Michael and Kelly are proud residents of Georgetown, Texas.
