Pacific Crest Trail: Footsteps and Photographs follows the boot-busting journey of an unnamed thru-hiker on one of the world's greatest scenic trails - tracing over 2,600 miles across the western ridges of the United States. Rich descriptions and authentically vibrant photographs transports readers through the towering evergreen landscapes of Washington, the mystical beauty of Oregon, and the rugged, epic, and inhospitable terrains of California's vastly different Trail sections. The Pacific Crest Trail (PCT) belongs to no one single hiker, yet each traveler's experience is deeply personal. This book is not meant to capture and share any one particular hiker's experience but rather provide a visual environment for past and future PCT hikers, as well as nature and adventure enthusiasts' imaginations to fill in the landscape with their own memories.
Autorenporträt
Mike Quine started hiking the Pacific Crest Trail in 2019 from Canada to Mexico - all the while carrying an obnoxiously inconvenient camera. Lugging around cameras while traversing vast stretches of the American backcountry was something he had grown familiar with while exploring the U.S. National Parks. Between 2013 and 2014, Mike backpacked through every National Park in the Lower 48 States and three of the National Parks in Alaska. He has started to chronicle those journeys through his online store Walkabout Collection (www.walkaboutcollection.com) and through his photography book, "Pacific Crest Trail: Footsteps and Photographs." His camera-clad adventures are not limited to the American landscapes. For several years, Mike Quine has nomadically meandered through the streets of Europe and the less-trampled scenery of the African continent. With perpetually itchy feet, Mike hopes to be able to share his stories and photographs with an adventure-thirsty audience and inspire those on the fence to lace up their boots and go explore.
