God did not permit divorce in the beginning, "from the beginning it was not so" (Matthew 19:8). Marriages were meant for life. However, Moses allowed man to put away his wife for uncleanness because of the hardness of his heart. Men started to abuse this permission and put away their wife for just any reason (Matthew 19:3). Jesus tried to correct this application; however, believers are divorcing for the same irreconcilable differences.
