On a global scale, there has been a growing concern regarding the pollution of aquatic ecosystems and its inherent unwholesome impact on wildlife and man.The present study focused on an urban reservoir, the Ikpoba reservoir, in Benin City, Nigeria, which was primarily established for the provision of drinking water to inhabitants of the City. The reservoir is also a source of fish for human consumption.Essentially, the study determined the concentrations of Cadmium(Cd), Manganese(Mn), Copper(Cu), Lead(Pb), Zinc(Zn) and Chromium(Cr) in Synodontis clarias (Linnaeus, 1766) and water from the aforementioned water body in order to ascertain the magnitude of impact by these heavy metals on the resources of the investigated ecosystem.
