Michaela Ralston was born in Glasgow, Scotland, until she packed up her life and moved to Melbourne, Australia, in 2019. Having studied social sciences at university, she discovered that she had a passion for exploring societal issues, particularly the taboo. When the pandemic hit only four months after moving to Australia, Michaela seized the opportunity by investing all of her time into an idea that had been brewing in her head over the years. Thus, her first book was created, The Au Pair.
