This literature review analyzes the management research on Central and Eastern European countries between 1990 and 2010. Data from more than eight hundred articles in 25 leading managerial journals where inspected. The theoretical part describes socialism, communism, planned economy and its collapse in an interdisciplinary way. Management in Planned Economy section describes the complete socialistic managerial system. The eastern and western authors details contrast and complement one another. The empirical part analyses in total 884 articles on the CEE topic. Increasing number of articles declares a massively growing popularity of CEE research while the specific country interest remains stable. Distinct authors research orientation change in the decade from 2001to 2010 was identified. The Transition Process is no more the most attractive research subject as attention to other business topics accelerates. But do the present results indicate a real end of the transition period in CEE countries as already often proclaimed by eastern authors?
