"NATIVE is a powerful and rich historical novel dealing with the formation of a vast nation, Atlantic to Pacific. It focuses on the Sioux as they are being overpowered by European settlers. The novel brilliantly contrasts the communal beliefs and well-being of native people and the reckless and heedless aggrandizement of Europeans unmoored from religion and civility. The power of the novel lies in this exploration of heart and soul as natives and Europeans clash. Mr. Sparrow brings the gift of intensive research to his story, which steadily guides the reader through history. This is historical fiction on a grand scale, written by an author who mastered an epoch. It is an important novel as well as a riveting one." --Richard S. Wheeler, Owen Wister Award and five-time Spur Award winner "Mike Sparrow's NATIVE is a true epic of the American frontier, meticulously researched and filled to the brim with drama and compelling characters, including Lakota Sioux, mountain men, immigrants, the cavalry, crooked politicians, and railroaders. This tale captures the vast sweep of the West with all its triumphs and tragedies and does so with a relentless pace that will leave the reader eager for more." --James Reasoner, award-winning and bestselling author of Wind River "An adventure as big as the West itself, packed with history, action and intrigue. It had me hooked from the start and I couldn't put it down." --James Denton, actor/producerHinweis: Dieser Artikel kann nur an eine deutsche Lieferadresse ausgeliefert werden.
Mike lives with his wife Adele in their seventeenth-century farmhouse in the Yorkshire Dales, England, their three children having spread their wings. He retired in 2013 to focus on writing following a career in hospitality and construction during which he worked in Europe, the Far East, Australasia, and the United States. While writing he divides his time between homes in the United Kingdom and Montana, where he is happiest hiking in the back country or watching wildlife in its natural habitat. However, his passion is to draw attention to conservation and the preservation of indigenous culture, so, although committed to entertaining his readers, his novels are always centered on an underlying cause about which he feels passionately, and to which proceeds from his books are donated.
