Autorenporträt
I'm a California, Bay Area girl. Born in Oakland, raised in Vallejo. My father was a Black man from Alabama who wanted to see the world and his travels eventually led him to his future wife in the Philippines. They met. They married. And they remained husband and wife for forty-seven years. Together they taught their four kids how to drive pick-up trucks, shoot guns and raise chickens to the background music of Charlie Pride and Johnny Cash and to value family and education. I'm also a product of the public-school system, back when they taught students home economics, drivers' education, typing and music classes, all life skills I still use today. After graduating from Vallejo High School, I attended UC Santa Barbara where I pledged a sorority and met exceptionally ambitious, talented young women. During my junior year, I transferred to CUNY Hunter College in New Year for a one-year program and fell in love with the art, culture and diversity of the city and New York became my home. New York is where I launched my professional career as an advertising copywriter at UniWorld, where I met more amazingly creative women. After thirteen years in New York, I returned to California to attend the American Film Institute. I graduated with an MFA in Screenwriting. I sold a screenplay, optioned several others and pitched television pilots. This story, My Awfully Wedded Husband, is an adaptation from one of my scripts. I have several other works that I am adapting and I'm currently writing an instructional guide to help screenwriters adapt their scripts to novels. I currently live in Las Vegas with my husband, son and Italian Mastiff. Please contact me for book signings, book clubs, speaking engagements and panel discussions. Or, if you want to drop me a line to say, "Hey, girl. Hey." For upcoming book information and all inquiries: www.minervastewart.com Upcoming books Can We Still Be Friends?
