Hydrogels possess some of the best advantages in the field of tissue engineering and also represent a promising method for medical applications. In the last few decades the field of tissue engineering has come to offer many solutions in all aspects of regenerative medicine, covering almost all human tissues. Extensive research has been carried out which is reflected in the progress that begins with cells tissue engineering and ends with the growing of complete organs. During this research process researchers are making new findings how to overcome problems which arising on their paths. Even now after decades researchers are still finding new ways to prepare more accurate and more defined structures suitable for tissue engineering, e.g. rapid prototyping techniques. The characterization of the porous material is also reflecting new progress with techniques which make it possible for researchers to describe and understand the relationships between structure, composition, erosion rates and cells communication.
