In India, agriculture is the main occupation of rural people. It is the important source of livelihood for majority of the Indian people. 'Awardee farmers' are the progressive farmers who not only practice the recommended technology on their farm but also implement some innovative ideas of their own. It is presumed that besides developing their own agriculture, the 'Awardee farmers' take active part in development of village in general and development of the agriculture in particular. For this also, a planned probe was necessary. The best practices followed by successful farmers give the way to other farmers for their successful farming. It is hoped that the study could come out with the solution and strategies to be followed in the current agricultural scenario which is facing more problem in package of practices. The book would help in understanding different dimensions of awardee farmers and also factors affecting these dimensions. The book highlight the socio-economic profileand cropping pattern of awardee farmers, and also technologies adopted by awardee farmers in Konkan Region (Maharashtra).
