Degradation of vegetation and soil resources has for long been observed to be accompanied by frequent drought episodes in Northern Ethiopia. Other locations of the country with high vegetation cover have witnessed better precipitation. This work therefore focuses on the relationship among localized ecological and climatic variables in space and time and provides insight on local level effects of vegetation on drought occurrence and temperature changes. This helps to formulate and implement strategic measures for sustainable natural resources management and building the resilience of communities in drought prone livelihood systems. Unaddressed themes by this work will also help trigger further research relevant to precipitation, vegetation and associated climatic and biophysical variables at the local level.
