The role and use of video as a learning technology in teaching and learning is a very complex and obvious issue to study. Video, therefore, as an educational medium can be used to impact on the knowledge of the learner as a delivery device. Thus, video can involve non-broadcast programmes or be recorded on CD/DVD and tape. The role and use of video in the tertiary institutions classroom in Nigeria form the theme of this research, focusing on how teachers and learners employ different instructional methods when using this medium to increase the learning achievement. The data are presented using charts and tables, and discussed via the content analysis and thematic analysis approaches. During the research, the researcher found that majority of the respondents agreed that video is a good learning tool. The researcher recommends that: (a) researchers should further this topic using a larger sample, and other methods, such as observation and individual student interview, and that (b) further study should be conducted to explore other educational technologies that are being used in the Nigerian tertiary institutions classroom.
