The Museum of Jewish Heritage - A Living Memorial to the Holocaust opened its doors in 1997, and is recognized as a site of great cultural and historical importance. Its mission is to educate people of all ages and backgrounds on Jewish life in the 20th century through its collection of 20,000 artifacts, photographs, and videotapes. Robert M. Morgenthau, former district attorney for New York County, is Chairman of the Board of Trustees for the Museum of Jewish Heritage. David G. Marwell is the Museum's Director and former Associate Director of the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington DC.
