Bacteria remaining after root canal treatment is a possible source of failure after endodontic therapy. Ideal intracanal medicament is a material that has been in search for long time .The ultimate goals of endodontic treatment are complete removal of bacteria, their byproducts and pulpal remnants from infected root canals and the complete seal of disinfected root canals. Not much research is seen to be conducted to compare the antimicrobial efficacy of probiotics with traditional agents. In this context it is decided to conduct a microbiological assay by comparing the efficacy of probiotics, calcium hydroxide, chlorhexidine and triple antibiotic paste against E. faecalis & C.albicansThis text book summaries the role of probiotics in endodontics and possible mechanisms of eradication of endodontic pathogens using probiotics.
