With the increase development in digital control algorithms, advanced control techniques such as adaptive and self-tuning controllers are now playing an important role in industrial applications. Furthermore, the advancement in hardware technology makes these algorithms to easily incorporate into the digital based systems to significantly improve the overall dynamic performance of the controlled system. These advanced controllers, offer more optimized control design to be realized and can rapidly adjust the controller coefficients in reaction to system parameter variation and therefore excellent dynamic performance can be attained. However, most of the developed techniques are not applicable in low cost, low power and high sample rate applications, where it requires a heavy computational demand for successful hardware implementation and this usually cost prohibitive in low-power and low cost applications. To cope with these issues in mind, there is a great interest to develop andpropose a low computationally adaptive/self-tuning controller which provides a good dynamic performance with low computation resources.
