Autorenporträt
Born and raised in Mumbai, Namrata Handique began her career as a trainee journalist and after a short stint in a publishing house, moved on to communications in the insurance industry. Though her first poem as a six-year-old was very predictably on a "cat" and was published in an Assamese regional newspaper, she seriously delved into poetry from the age of fifteen. In 2009, she presented her poem 'A World I Would Love to Call Mine' at the symposium on Building a Culture of Peace for the Children of the World. A post-graduate in English literature, her interest in music also gave her the opportunity to sing in the Assamese film 'Tora', which won the National Award for Best Children's film in 2003. Despite being a self-professed procrastinator and accepting her present inertia, Namrata dreams of traveling the world before she grows old and wrinkled.
