This study investigated a new approach in treatment of bacterial ulcer forming infection via using a synergistic combination between commercial used antibiotic and natural essential oil. The combination between the most effective oil and antibiotic had been investigated in vitro and in vivo. The in vivo experiment measure hematological parameter (hemoglobin), biochemical parameter (AST, ALT, Albumin, creatinine), immunological parameters (total IgG and total IgM), antibacterial (via detect the bacterial load), anti-inflammatory (via assay of TAC) and detection of inflammation per cells and…mehr

This study investigated a new approach in treatment of bacterial ulcer forming infection via using a synergistic combination between commercial used antibiotic and natural essential oil. The combination between the most effective oil and antibiotic had been investigated in vitro and in vivo. The in vivo experiment measure hematological parameter (hemoglobin), biochemical parameter (AST, ALT, Albumin, creatinine), immunological parameters (total IgG and total IgM), antibacterial (via detect the bacterial load), anti-inflammatory (via assay of TAC) and detection of inflammation per cells and healing activity of different treatments (ciprofloxacin, thyme oil and their synergistic combination) via repairing the damage of the epithelial cells in adult male albino Sprague-Dawley rats. The combination between thyme oil and ciprofloxacin gave synergistic activity, which proved to be more effective in inhibiting the growth of ulcer forming S. flexneri, healing the colon ulcer and decreaseinfiltration of lamina propria with inflammatory cells and improve the levels of hemoglobin, liver enzymes, albumin, creatinin, total antioxidant capacity, total IgG and total IgM.
