Optimization is the process of finding the best answer or the global optimal point for a problem. Exchange market algorithm (EMA) is one of the most recent population-based optimization algorithms which was proposed for the first time by the authors of this book. This algorithm has two searcher operators as well as two absorbent operators for individuals to be absorbed by the elite person, which leads to generation and organization of the random numbers in the best way. In EMA, there are various types of shares, each individual purchases a number of shares, and then exchanges these shares. In this algorithm, it is assumed that within a single iteration the market experiences two status of oscillation and non-oscillation. In the proposed algorithm after each iteration, individuals' fitness will be investigated and people will be ranked based on the value of their possessions. The EMA has been put forward for continuous problems whose results enjoy a great capability in finding theglobal optimum points in continuous problems. The binary version of EMA, called binary exchange market Algorithm (BEMA), is also proposed for discrete optimization problems.
