This book is written as a summary of the author's experiences in Cyclic Steam Stimulation (CSS). During their work as petroleum engineers in steam injection projects in Sudan's heavy oil fields, where the CSS was implemented in more than 80 wells in four different fields; there were many challenges and lessons learned from the application of CSS. They were always trying to think about the cause of the problem and the way to solve it in cooperation with universities and research centers. In developing this book, they thought to present concepts of the heavy oil development methods and techniques with a focus on CSS as one of the thermal enhanced oil recovery methods for heavy oil. Some cases of CSS studies around the world are discussed as examples with a closer look at Sudanese heavy oil fields experiences in this area. A summary of their experiences in CSS implementation, explanation of technical and operational challenges, the way to overcome them, and the lessons learned have been provided and discussed in this book. Also, there are some related papers were allocated as appendices at the end of the book.
