A couple rogue Homeland Security agents use ruthless force to get things done. And his company becomes distributor of the DooMee Device, promising Virtual Sex with celebrities. In this tongue-in-cheek thriller, Crabtree makes us look at our obsession with money, sex, violence and drugs. Set in turn of the century Miami Vice days, our characters deal with a changed America looking for stability in a world blown apart. The former pot smugglers are now pirates looking at forty, and their occupation has gone away. And the women characters drive the narrative, classy and tough, loving and loveable, determined not to be pushed around in a man's world.

Autorenporträt
Smuggler's Return is a literary crime story, set in Miami around 2000-2001. In the 1970's and 1980's, pot smugglers used the numerous ports and landing areas to bring in product from Jamaica and Colombia. Colombian Gold was the best product you could get, big gold buds full of resins and seeds. But in the mid-1980's, cocaine became the fashionable drug. It had no smell though it went up your nose, and whole nightclubs popped up dedicated to its use. I saw those days as did many of my readers. Pot smuggling was celebrated in Jimmy Buffett songs and Reggae music, but cocaine ruined The Business for everyone. Sex, money and fashion called for a change in getting high style. This novel is about a couple of pirates whose occupation's just not around.
