In this book are discussed the theoretical aspects of frequent coexistence and powerful interaction between malnutrition, inflammation, and atherosclerosis ( known as MIA syndrome), and the strong impact in the cardiovascular morbidity and mortality. There is also described and discussed a clinical study about the presence of this syndrome in chronic kidney disease patients in the pre-dialysis and dialysis stage.

Dr. Spahia was graduated as a medical doctor at Tirana University in 1994 and finished her post-university studies in Nephrology in 1998. She obtained her Ph.D. degree in 2013. Actually, she works as a nephrologist in University Hospital Center "Mother Theressa" in Tirana and is a part-time lecturer at the University of Medicine in Tirana from 2016.
