Measurement of the chemical composition of cosmic rays are essential for understanding their origin, transport and interactions in the Galaxy. Dr. Nicola Tomassetti obtained his PhD in astroparticle physics at the University of Perugia, Italy, with a dissertation on the experimental detection of light nuclei in cosmic rays. His research deals with experimental techniques and theoretical issues in particle physics, high-energy astrophysics and cosmology.
