Autorenporträt
Nicole Rawson, author of Screen Smart Sam, is a lifelong advocate of education and the founder of Screen Time Clinic, a network of professionals empowering families and businesses to reach their ideal level of functioning by clarifying digital wellness priorities through seminars, group courses, and personalized guidance. A secondary school teacher beginning in 1998, Nicole has taught in 5 different states, most recently featured on PBS for her literacy work with San Diego Unified in 2018. Nicole has also been involved with numerous other entrepreneurial projects after receiving her MBA from Rice University in 2006, collaborating on projects in the healthcare and housing industries, contributing to her business acumen. With 22 years experience as a step-parent, parent, and single mom, Nicole knows all the challenges different stages of parenting involves. Since 2014 Nicole has been consulting with psychologists and immersing herself in the science behind why screen time causes so many harms to children and challenges for adults, becoming a digital wellness expert founding the company Screen Time Clinic to help others. Her new book Screen Smart Sam was written to reach families with very young children to help prevent problems. Inspired by her work with families and her own family's traumatic experience with technology when her sons were young, Screen Smart Sam is a compelling story for parents to read with elementary age children about the risks of too much screen time and simple steps that can be taken to correct or prevent overuse. Nicole has witnessed first hand the highly addictive effects personal tech has on children when the iPad was first introduced in 2006 causing her oldest son to become screen dependent and video game obsessed before removing devices at a crisis point in 2016 which lead to an amazing transformation, similar to experiences many parents now observe when making changes to screen routines. Nicole is a dynamic and entertaining educator, coaching her clients and seminars with compassion and conviction to maximize transformation results.
