Over 90% of the foreign exchange earnings of the Nigerian economy depend on oil and gas export and in addition, domestic utilization adds significantly to the nation s economy. The upstream oil exploration and exploitation companies and the downstream petrochemical, refining and liquefied natural gas industries are therefore the backbone of the economy.
