The urban environment faces different challenges with its thermodynamics and dynamics. This study quantitatively assessed and mapped the changes in the variations of Land Surface Temperature (LST, in the lockdown, due to the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic) in the Kerala state. As a representation of the whole state of Kerala, three corporations were selected named Kollam, Kochi, and Kannur located in the south, central and northern parts of the state. The LST was calculated using thermal images taken before and throughout the lockdown period, zone by zone and ward by ward.
