Realistic human face rendering is a difficult task in computer graphics due to complexity of facial geometric shape and light reflectance properties of human skin. In recent years, many techniques have been introduced to render realistic faces, with various degrees of complexity and realism. Image based rendering technique, which uses images instead of polygons to render faces has been proposed to enhance realism of 3D-face model. In this book, the design of a system of color rendering of human faces under variable lighting is described. The systems synthesize a color image of face under an arbitrary lighting condition given an image of face and a bootstrap set of images. The book covers basic knowledge and algorithms for developing the color face rendering systems, as well as detailed discussions of color adjustment and quality of the rendered color faces.
