This book is intended for first-year students beginning their journey in Urban Planning and in Geology and Earth Science. It covers modules on descriptive statistics and probability, designed to provide a comprehensive understanding of fundamental concepts relevant to this field. To offer a complete resource presenting essential content for courses in descriptive statistics and probability. To provide examples contextualized within the field of Geology and Earth Science and in Urban Planning to aid in understanding and application. To include exercises with solutions to enable students to self-assess and prepare for assessments effectively. The initial section explores descriptive statistics, including a review of foundational principles followed by illustrative examples and exercises. The book transitions to probability, offering a parallel presentation with exercises. Emphasis is placed on active engagement with the course material, encouraging students to thoroughly examine the examples and attempt exercises independently before referring to solutions. Solutions to exercises serve as evaluative tools, intended solely to assess individual progress rather than as immediate aids.
