In an agrarian state like Assam, assessment of food security status is of great importance in the backdrop of the higher population growth due to natural growth and influx of people from other states of India and neighbouring countries. In the present study, an attempt has been made to assess the rice production system in Assam with critical analysis of changes in production technologies, adoption, asset acquisition and food security status of rice farmers.
