Hospital waste generated primarily from health care establishments is a relatively recent issue and it has become a matter of great concern. The proper management of hospital waste is still in its infancy all over the world. There is a lot of confusion among generators, operators, decision-makers and the general community about the safe management of hospital waste. Hospital waste management in India has become an intractable problem. The methodical Hospital waste Management is of critical significance as its inappropriate management poses risks to health care workers, waste handlers, patients, community in common and mainly the environment. Keeping this in view, bio-medical waste management was studied in hospitals of Gwalior City. Gwalior city is situated on Agra-Bhopal railway route. It is a developing city with essential facilities. So due to speedy increase of population and urbanization there is a substantial increase in hospitals and private nursing homes as well as pathological labs. Thus the Bio-medical waste is also mounting day by day. Biomedical waste management is intricate but trouble can be cut down and minimized if its apposite management system is planned.
