To Life: My Miraculous Journey is about my recovery journey from Primary Vasculitis of the Central Nervous System leading to a Massive Stroke. To Life: My Miraculous Journey is about my recovery journey from Primary Vasculitis of the Central Nervous System leading to a Massive Stroke. At the time of my illness, I was working as a middle school guidance counselor and taught ballet in the evening. I was a vibrant woman. I had a healthy life style. I appeared to be healthy. No one would suspect that I, with not much warning, would be in the hospital with slim chance of survival. After diagnosing me, the doctors at NYU Hospital told my family that if I were to live, I would be a complete vegetable and need constant care. With a lot of effort and determination, and of course, God's help, I was Rusk Rehabilitation's miracle. I have written about my experience in the hope that it can be helpful to other patients who are still suffering from the effects of the stroke. Many are unable to communicate their feelings and needs to their families, therapist and doctors. Although these helpers have much knowledge, they seldom have the intimate knowledge that comes with first-hand experience. I have been very blessed to have regained my strength and speech and clear thinking. I am anxious to share my own experience and insights with as many people as possible, thereby hopefully easing their pain.
