A man by the name of Sheldon Penner has a closet heaped high with skeletons that he's kept under lock and key for many years. Shame, would be a good word to describe how he feels now. It's much too late to change course, the damage has been done. His wife once told the Salt Lake City police in a letter that Sheldon was a smart and intelligent man, and any length of jail time would not alter his beliefs on fairness and true justice. Back in the day, Sheldon was a handsome man that was born and raised in Canada, but received his education from Walla Walla University. He married an American lady while still in college, and it was soon thereafter misfortune abounded. This woman that shares three sons with Sheldon hastily snatches the boys away with the courts consent. Then there was another lady that fed an insurance company lies until Sheldon's quiet forgiving attitude transformed into a more callas and defiant individual. Turning the other cheek was no more an option, it stung too much to have it exposed for everyone to slap. Sheldon believes in loyalty, honesty, truthfulness and kindness, but at times when these attributes don't divulge themselves, he snaps like a dry branch instead of being nimble like a yoga instructor. These retaliations caused much confusion and regret in his life. How did Sheldon respond to all the adversity he faced, that is the question? Sheldon Penner was born in St. Claude, Manitoba Canada in 1958. He was a very quiet individual during his minor years, not until his later years did, he begin to open up. Scholastically he was under the radar except for his drafting prowess he demonstrated at Garden Valley Collegiate. After graduating from Garden Valley Collegiate in 1977, he began work at Triple E, a recreational vehicle supplier. While working there, he enrolled in an evening architectural program at Red River Community College and receiving top honors. Triple E turned out to be a disappointment with only giving him 2 years' experience, one year on the assembly line and one year on the design team. A recession was brewing at the time, and that was when Sheldon decided to hit the college scene. In 1980 he enrolled as an engineering student at Walla Walla University. After struggling nearly 2 years Sheldon changed courses, he decided to become a secondary Education instructor. Life became much easier for him. Since Sheldon had to work while pursuing extensively engineering was out of reach. He took a year off from university and worked in McMinnville Oregon at Skyline Mobile Homes Inc. His construction expertise was very evident, but university was calling him back. After returning back to Walla Walla University he thrived in shop classes such as woodworking, construction and, autobody; reinforcing his decision to give up engineering for secondary education. As Sheldon neared his third year, he met his wife at the university. They had known each other from their childhood years. As graduation neared in 1986, Sheldon signed a teaching contract at Cariboo Adventist Academy in Williams Lake, B.C. Canada, teaching math and woodworking to junior high and high school students. After completing a one-year program at Idaho State University he earned a certificate in automotive. As providence would have it, in 1989 a San Pasqual Academy in California was extremely interested in the skills Sheldon possessed. Being an assistant manager Sheldon oversaw the vacuum-forming part of the business.Unfortunately, because of financial problems the San Pasqual Academy closed. For the next three years from 1990-1993 Sheldon worked as a substitute teacher around Riverside, California. During that span of time, Sheldon taught at Baker Unified School and started up an IT program consisting of drafting, welding, woodworking and automotive. He thrived in this capacity.Sheldon began his career in construction in St. George, Utah. Kevin Lee Construction, Scott Thompson Construction and Craig Engel were the biggest beneficiaries from Sheldon's love for building. After many years in the construction field, Sheldon sustained an accident while working, he took a nasty fall that put him out of work nearly a year. It was at this time in 2002 that Sheldon decided to change things up once again. After searching the internet for teaching jobs abroad, he moved to South Korea. He was very busy during his five years teaching ESl English. He worked three years at English learnings centres, the first was SamYook Language School then Yale Academy, and then finally employed at Sindun Elementary School of the public-school system. At the end of the 5th year Sheldon moved to Vancouver, Canada where he took up his construction work again. International Marine Floating Systems were glad to have Sheldon work for them from 2010 until 2013 forming up many concrete floats that were shipped internationally. Sheldon has always had a burden to help young people, so he packed his bags one more time in 2014 and made a move to Shenzhen, China where he currently is employed at LianNan Primary school. He's thriving there, receiving several teaching awards. He has committed another year serving the young students in 2020 and what happens next, is anyone's guess.
