One womans journey from childhood trauma to the healing and blessings she received by inviting Jesus into her life. In this frank and honest memoir, Shirley Keogh details the painful, emotional scars she experienced when as a 12 year old child she was cut off, not only from her father, but also from her younger brother. In a beautifully crafted fashion, she describes the impact that the separation had on her but more importantly how her journey towards the healing of her wound led her into her present vocation - to be a voice and a source of healing for others, who through no fault of their own, have had to travel a similar path. Using a diary-journaling technique she details the steps by which she was led to surrender her life and her problems to the Lord as He led her to a place of hope and healing. She now had the courage to share her story in the hope that her experiences may help society to think again about the widespread (and growing) availability of divorce and parental separation. She makes a heartfelt plea for the real victims - the children. As a committed Christian, Shirley explains that in the Catholic tradition healing is more likely to come in a gradual way. For many people brought up in a world where everything is instant and immediate, she points out that we can learn so many valuable lessons about life in the waiting period - things that we can easily miss in more dramatic and instantaneous stories of healing. Shirley is living proof that when we surrender our lives to the Lord, He can mysteriously open doors that we didn't even know existed

Autorenporträt
The author and her husband live with their four children in a rural setting in County Galway, Ireland. Shirley has written about her miraculous journey to gradual healing from a traumatic break-up of the family unit in childhood when she was separated from her younger brother. She introduces us to this healing journey by outlining: her early family life, meeting her future husband during the college years, her professional career in the corporate world, starting a family and becoming a primary school teacher in her forties. She has set out the key events which have shaped the healing process: the local holy woman who reached out to help her, Christian counselling in Esker, the healing mission in Clonfert, and pilgrimages to Medjugorje and the Holy Land. The wonderful healing she experienced led her to write her inspirations in a diary format. Thus began a realisation that she was now being called by Jesus and Mary to help others who are suffering from childhood trauma. To this end, the author has availed of many opportunities to pass on the message of the healing love of Jesus and Mary in her day to day life, in her family, at work or chance meetings socially as directed through prayer and guidance from heaven.
