Color Images are often corrupted by noise during transmission from one point to another due to atmospheric or sensing effects. The random valued impulse noise is one type that is very difficult to reduce using conventional image pre-processing methods like the vector median filters. This is because the amount of corruption of each pixel is fully random and totally unknown. Moreover the conventional filters are computationally expensive as they process iteratively over the entire image. This book presents recent work developed by the authors in reducing random valued impulse noise with focus on speed.
