Among a large number of foliage plants available for interior decoration, aglaonema is an important and popular ornamental foliage plant with attractive foliar variegation and tolerance to low light. Aglaonema with compact growth habit are preferred by consumers. Since it often produced under shade and in close proximity tends to stretch, become leggy or simply overgrown their pots. These plants are less marketable and harder to maintain. Most potted tropical foliage plants are grown in peat based media usually sphagnum peat. It is not readily available in tropical regions. Considering the importance of foliage plant, there is a need to focus on the above problems. Therefore an investigation was carriedout by using different growth retardants (paclobutrazol, ancymidol and cycocel) and potting media (soil, cocopeat, sphagnum peat) know the best growth retardant and potting media which make plants sturdier, compact and more attractive. The publication will be useful to the students, scientists and growers.
