Autorenporträt
Steven Samuels, a writer, director, actor, producer, editor, and publisher with a bad habit of co-founding theater companies, managed and occasionally acted with New York's renowned avant-garde comic troupe, The Ridiculous Theatrical Company; was senior editor of TCG Books and American Theatre magazine; and served as an artistic associate at Arena Stage in Washington, D.C. A graduate of Bennington College and Brown University, he has edited scores of publications, including The Complete Plays of Charles Ludlam, Ridiculous Theatre: Scourge of Human Folly, Ridiculous!: The Theatrical Life and Times of Charles Ludlam, and works by Jon Robin Baitz, Eric Bogosian, Constance Congdon, Richard Foreman, Tony Kushner, Suzan-Lori Parks, Reynolds Price, Ronald Ribman, José Rivera, Stephen Sondheim, Paula Vogel, and George C. Wolfe, among others. In various capacities, he has been involved in more than 70 world premiere stage productions, including his own When Jekyll Met Hyde, The Last Laugh, Love Among the Frankensteins, Evening the Score, The Man with the Birdcage on His Head, The Merchant of Asheville, The Improbables, and American Arcade. A Brooklyn native, he lives in Asheville, NC, where he serves as the producing artistic director and publisher of The Sublime Theater & Press.
