Oxidative stress is one measure to assess the health of the fishes in the water bodies. Many a times symptoms of a disease may not arise in the fishes but repeated and chronic exposure of fishes to pollutants may interfere with the physiological mechanisms leading to the development of stress. Therefore, the aim of the study was to determine the levels of water pollution of the Bisalpur reservoir and to discuss to what extent the health of fishes had affected from the pollution using haematological, oxidative stress and histopathological parameters. This work will contribute to a better understanding of the potential health effects of aquatic ecosystems. Apart from the personal efforts and steadfastness to work, constant inspiration and encouragement given by a number of individuals served as the driving force enabled me to submit this thesis in the present form.
