There are large differences among the tumour types leading significant differences in their sensitivity to drugs it is quite impossible or unlikely that a broad spectrum anticancer drug will actually be founded. The assay methods used in the screening programmes had to be rapid to cope with the large number of samples tested and consequently rapidly ¿dividing tumour lines are employed for biological testing. So naturally the antitumour agents deleted are those effective against fast growing tumours and they have little activity in slow growing tumours in human studies.
