In the last 40-50 years, no single subject in the field of food quality has attracted more attention than the issue of pesticide residues in fruits and vegetables. Whereas the ordinary man can decide which to eat or not, he has absolutely no control over its chemical composition. A lot of efforts are recently being put into eliminating chemicals (pesticide residues being a major component)from our foods but the consumption of these products with even the minutest amount of pesticide residues can lead to adverse health effects as a result of bio-accumulation. The purpose of this research work is not to cause panic among the consuming public but rather create awareness about the toxic effects of these chemicals and how best to eliminate some amount from getting into our foods which could lead to moderate chemical consumption.
